HID Corp. Irvine, Calif., announces its MIFARE reader, a contactless smart card reader that reads and writes to contactless smart cards. The reader provides RS-232 connectivity to support read/write functionality. It also provides a Wiegand output compatible with greatest in number existing access control systems. To simplify database management, a sector of the MIFARE card can match any HID proximity bit format already in use. The reader is compatible with all MIFARE-S50 compatible cards.
